A Tragic and Disturbing Tragedy Yesterday

February 25th, 2008

Yesterday there was a tragic and disturbing death aboard an American Airlines
flight. The passenger, a 44 year old female was returning home to New York from
Haiti. She became ill and was having difficulty breathing.

The passenger, Ms. Desir, complained of illness and extreme thirst after she had
eaten a meal. A few minutes later, Ms. Desir said she was having trouble
breathing and asked for oxygen. The flight attendant refused her request two
times. I don’t have any idea why. Ms. Desir, became distressed, pleading,
“Don’t let me die.” Finally a flight Attendant tried to administer oxygen from a
portable tank and mask, but the tank was empty.

There were two doctors and two nurses who were passengers on this flight.
They tried to administer oxygen from another tank. That tank was also empty. Before

the plane could land, Ms. Desir collapsed and died. She was pronounced dead
aboard the plane.

The death was a tragedy. The apparent negligence of American Airlines is
disturbing. You can read the
response from American Airlines
here.

I can relate to Ms. Desir’s pain and panic with not having sufficient oxygen.
I was hooked up to an oxygen tank on several occasions. Before and during my cancer treatment. I now take a liquid oxygen supplement on a daily basis. Would Ms. Desir have survived had she been taking an oxygen supplement? I don’t know but it is quite possible.

Why do I take an oxygen supplement on a daily basis? You can learn more about
the benefits of an oxygen supplement at this website. Don’t worry they don’t
sell any thing on this site. You won’t even be asked for your email address to
receive this valuable information. It’s all right there on the site.

The Shocking Truth about Mammogram Screenings

February 24th, 2008

Yesterday I posted my thoughts about the pharmaceutical companies using a “profit vs. legal expense” model instead of a “benefit vs. product risk” model. I disagreed with the pharmaceutical companies’ explanation that the high cost of their products was to pay for medical research. I said the high cost is because of the billions of dollars they spend on advertising and their massive legal expenses.

Today I want to point out that other professional services are also money driven more than patient driven. Mammography is totally money driven. Mammography screenings have been proven to be ineffective and pose risks.

An alternative solution would be clinical breast examination (CBE). These are usually performed by a specially trained nurse and according to the International Journal of Health Services, are every bit as effective as a mammography. The clinical breast examination is less expensive and at least as effective. The CBE also poses fewer risks. Monthly breast self-examination (BSE) should be a regular routine for all women. According to the American Cancer Society, most breast cancers, about 90%, are discovered by the woman herself.

According to the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and American Cancer Society (ACS)- mammography does not detect cancer until it has been present for about eight years.

Falsely Positive Mammograms often mistakenly diagnoses cancer. These false positives lead to over diagnosis and that results in over treatment. We live in litigious society. These false positives and inaccurate diagnoses lead to lawsuits.

Why are mammogram screenings expensive? Maybe for two of the same reasons that prescription medications are so expensive, the high cost of lawyers and lobbyists. Here is what leads me to that conclusion. In January 1997 the National Institutes of Health Consensus Conference recommended against pre-menopausal screening. The National Cancer Institute accepted this recommendation. Now here come the politicians. Congress pressured the NCI and they reversed their decision three months later in favor of pre-menopausal screening.

So now congress (politicians) is deciding on medical treatments. Do you think lobbyist had any thing to do with this? Did you know that the United States is the only nation that routinely screens pre-menopausal women by mammography? Did you also know the occurrence of breast cancer in the USA exceeds that of other countries?

The real reasons why Prescription medicines are expensive

February 23rd, 2008

Prescription medicine is expensive. The large pharmaceutical companies justify this by claiming their high prices pays for research. Is that really where most of the money we spend on drugs goes? Is it to fund research? I don’t think so.

A big portion of the price we pay for our medications goes toward advertising. When I was growing up, prescription medications were not advertised. A medical doctor would recommend and prescribe medications based on a patient’s needs.

Today the pharmaceutical companies are spending billions of dollars advertising on TV and other media touting their products. Yes, the pharmaceutical companies are making recommendations for our medical condition with TV and magazine ads. They make these recommendations to us with out knowing a thing about us. The ad sells us on their product and since we can’t buy them without a doctor’s prescription, the ads close with this statement, “Ask you doctor about “whatever drug” they are pitching.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t think we should suggest to our doctor what medications we should take. That’s why the doctor went to medical school; to diagnose and prescribe treatments for us. Diagnosing and recommending medications should not be the role of the pharmaceutical companies. If they stopped this outrageous spending on advertising our prescription costs could be a lot less. And we would most likely have a prescription more tailored to our medical need. Yes, the doctors are being influenced by these ads too.

Another big chunk of the money we spend on prescription drugs pays for the legal expenses of the pharmaceutical companies. They have lawyers that write a long list of “Disclaimers” in their ads. Do you think the pharmaceutical companies tell us all of the horrible things that can happen to us as a result of using their product (including death) because they are concerned about us and want to keep us safe? I don’t think so. It’s to protect them against lawsuits. Who do you think is paying these expensive lawyers? We are every time we fill a prescription.

I always smile when I read the “Information Sheet” that usually comes with every prescription. It list the possible side effects and then states, “You doctor believes the benefits from using this drug out weigh the risks.” An ad agency wrote that and some lawyer approved or revised it.

The lawyer fees are only a part of the legal expenses we are paying for with our prescription dollars. What about the lawsuits these expert lawyers could not win? The money we spend on our prescriptions helps fund the multi-million judgments levied against the pharmaceutical companies.

Do you think the pharmaceutical companies are surprised when someone dies or becomes seriously ill, or even deformed as a result of using their product? I don’t think so. The pharmaceutical companies know the risks. They actually hire actuaries to weigh the potential profit of a particular drug against the cost of lawsuits. It’s all about the money.

I am not saying the pharmaceutical companies are evil or intentionally criminal. I’m not saying that they are not interested in providing products that will be beneficial to our health. I’m simply saying that the pharmaceutical companies are also in business to make a profit. It just seems to me they have their priorities out of whack.

I used to think that the FDA would prevent the distribution of drugs that could do us significant harm. I don’t think that is the case anymore. I now believe the FDA has been too relaxed and easy going with the pharmaceutical companies. Remember, the pharmaceutical companies also hire lobbyists. Do you think the lobbyists attempt and maybe succeed in influencing the FDA? I think so.

Let me use Merck to illustrate what I mean. The dangers of using Vioxx were well known by the FDA prior to Vioxx being marketed to us. Internal documents were distributed stating the risks of using Vioxx. These dangers included, arrhythmia, blood clots, deep vein thrombosis, heart attacks, and strokes to name just a few.

Even with this information, the FDA allowed Merck to release Vioxx based on the performance of previously released so called miracle drugs.

Do you think Merck, with the help of lobbyists, influenced the FDA? Who do you think paid these lobbyists?

I am not against prescription drugs or the pharmaceutical companies. I just resent paying for their advertising and being told the high cost is needed to fund research. They made money before they were allowed to advertise directly to the consumer. Now they are spending billions of dollars trying to get us to convince our doctors what drugs we should be prescribed.

I also resent the way they determine whether or not to market a particular high risk drug. They use a “profit vs. legal expense” model instead of a “benefit vs. product risk” model. I resent being told, “You doctor believes the benefits from using this drug out weigh the risks.” What they really mean is, “We believe that the profit we make from this drug out weigh the risks to you.” And that’s the truth as I see it. Remember the pharmaceutical companies hire actuaries to weigh the potential profit of a particular drug against the cost of lawsuits.

Four basics to help prevent and treat cancer

February 14th, 2008

Following are four things you can do to help prevent cancer.

  • Maintain a healthy diet
  • Eliminate your body of toxins
  • Keep your body oxygenated
  • Build a strong immune system

I neglected all four of the above and developed Stage 4 cancer.

Yes, I endured the conventional treatment; chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. Could I have skipped the traditional treatment procedures and beat the cancer by just implementing the above four disciplines? It’s possible!

Much research has been done, and many successes have been documented, using the holistic approach to fighting cancer. The body does respond positively with the introduction of these four disciplines.

Let’s face it, there isn’t any cancer treatment, traditional, holistic, alternative, or otherwise, that comes with an unconditional guarantee. One thing I do know is that traditional treatments devastate the body while alternative treatments bolster the body and concentrate on its healing requirements.

1. Maintain a healthy diet

A healthy diet is essential to cancer treatment. Your diet can enhance or destroy the usefulness of any cancer treatment. You need to know which foods interfere with the treatment and actually feed the cancer cells. You need to know which foods assist in the healing process.

Some foods such as refined sugar, feeds and strengthens cancer cells. They should be eliminated from your diet. Sugar substitutes may not be any better. Trans fatty acids damage the body and numerous studies link them to cancer. Many carbonated beverages, coffee and alcohol may interfere with healing and fuel the cancer’s growth.

On the other hand, a diet of nutrient-rich foods will enhance all levels of the healing process.

Herbs, fruits and vegetables have ingredients that defend against the spread of cancer while strengthening, cleansing and repairing the body. These include green leafy vegetables, ginger and green tea.

2. Eliminate your body of toxins

Effective cancer prevention and healing necessitates the elimination of accumulated toxins. You need to eliminate or at least minimize the intake of processed foods and environmental toxins. It’s also recommended to begin the healing process with a complete cleansing of the kidneys, liver and colon to remove stored toxins. There are many effective products that can be found at health food stores, the internet, or through a holistic healer.

Other ways to reduce toxins include daily stretching. This releases acids from body tissues. Perspiring in a sauna or hot shower will also help purge toxins through the skin.

There are other ways to rid the body of toxins. Many of them I do not recommend. I’m talking about things like coffee enemas. Yes, this is said to prevent the re-absorption of toxins, and to cleanse the blood and liver. Toxic build-up can also be released through fasting, which helps to heal and rejuvenate the body. I suggest you talk with a health care professional before experimenting with these procedures.

I personally recommend a safer and more effective means of eliminating toxins. Grape Seed Extract has been exhaustively studied by some of the most prestigious medical facilities around the world. The results are no less than astounding. In the research of Dr. Jacques Masquelier, Dr. Richard Passwater, Dr. Morton Walker, the Pasteur & Huntington Institutes, Grape Seed Extract has been proven to be an exceptional leader in the fight against free radical (cell-damaging) activity in human physiology.

3. Keep your body oxygenated

The scarcity of oxygen at the cellular level leads to disease. It’s an unquestionable fact that cancer cells cease to grow when blood and tissues are sufficiently oxygenated. There are many ways to oxygenate the body, including exercise, deep breathing, and adequate consumption of pure water.

It is a simple and indisputable fact – oxygen is necessary to sustain life. Clinical studies show that a human being can live for days without water, and weeks without food – but without Oxygen, biological death begins to occur within three minutes. Oxygen is the miraculous element that permits life to exist and flourish on earth!

While our bodies require many nutrients on a daily basis, Oxygen is the single most important substance taken into the body. Oxygen is a necessary component in every chemical reaction important to human physiology. Oxygen nourishes the cells, it provides the energy needed to metabolize carbohydrates, it allows chemical transport, breaks down waste products and toxins, regulates the pH of body chemistry, drives the desire to breathe, and fights hostile organisms.

According to experts the oxygen levels of our atmosphere have dropped by as much as 50% over the past 500 years. We no longer have the atmosphere that we were created for, so we cannot get enough oxygen to fulfill our body’s needs by breathing alone.

O2 Basic Essential is the newest generation of this super-oxygenation technology. This wonderful product is ideal for both rehydration, and improving one’s sense of overall wellness.

4. Build a strong immune system

The immune system is our body’s natural defense against harmful substances and abnormal cell development.

Two of the best ingredients to build a strong immune system are garlic and ginger. Garlic has been used as a medicine and health-promoter for 5,000 years.

Ginger has a long history of healing attributes and strengthening the immune system. Ginger is probably one of the world’s favorite medicines. It is perhaps the best herb for digestion. It alleviates High Blood Pressure, stimulates circulation and relaxes the muscles surrounding blood vessels, facilitating the flow of blood throughout the body.

The Medical Profession Was Wrong Then And They Are Wrong Now

February 8th, 2008

I am very skeptical of medical reports. The established medical profession is very often wrong. DEAD WRONG! Sometimes it takes them years to realize they were wrong. And maybe several more years to admit it. Unfortunately, the wrong information they report can be, and has been, dangerous and even deadly.

Let me give you an example. Back in the 1920’s the JAMA (Journal of the AMA) ran ads that showed physicians smoking. The ads touted and even described the health benefits of smoking. Yes, there were many voices outside of the medical profession warning of the dangers of smoking. It took a long, long time for the medical profession to listen.

As recently as the seventies doctors had ashtrays in the waiting rooms and you could smoke in your hospital room. It was not unusual for doctors to smoke in their office while consulting with a patient. I had a baby that was born with a congenital heart defect. She only lived three months. The pediatric heart surgeon that treated her was a chain smoker.

It took the medical profession almost a hundred years to figure out that smoking does indeed cause cancer. I smoked for 50 years and developed cancer in my tonsils. It was not diagnosed until it had spread to the lymph nodes on the right side of my neck. By then a huge mass had developed and I was told I had Stage 4 cancer.

What is the latest area where the medical profession has their head in the sand? This report dated December 6th 2006 is scary.

Summary: “Using cell phones, even over a long period of time, does not appear to raise a person’s risk for cancer”. That report appeared on December 6th, 2006 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

This is from the JNCI Journal of the National Cancer Institute: Conclusions: “We found no evidence for an association between tumor risk and cellular telephone use among either short-term or long-term users.”

That’s their conclusion. My conclusion is that the medical profession was wrong about smoking being harmless (and even beneficial) in the 1920’s and they are wrong in 2008 about Cellular Telephone Use and Cancer Risks.

Looking back to 1920, it is obvious that the medical profession was wrong about smoking. Their statement was absurd and ridiculous.

At some point in the future, people will look back at the medical profession’s reports that cellular telephone use has no cancer risks. They will see that too as, absurd and ridiculous.

Cancer Free, Pain Free, And Drug Free

February 6th, 2008

Two days ago I went to the hospital for x-rays and blood tests for my every six month follow up appointment.

Today I met with my oncologist for the results of those tests. I am still cancer free. That’s a good feeling.

As you may know, my original diagnosis in April 2005, was Advanced Head and Neck Cancer Stage 4. I had several surgeries, extensive chemotherapy and 38 radiation treatments. No one expected me to live. My family even met with a funeral director.

I take full responsibility for my getting cancer. My primary cancer was in my tonsils. I smoked non-filter cigarettes for 50 years. It is pretty obvious what caused my cancer. My poor eating habits and complete lack of any exercise program didn’t help matters either. So Yes, I take full responsibility for my getting cancer.

I give full credit to Dr. Victor Aviles and my entire team of medical professionals for my miraculous recovery. Today I am Cancer Free, Pain Free and Drug Free. It was the skill and dedication of my doctors that rid me of my cancer.

I am now taking responsibility for my health. I quit smoking, I have a healthy diet and I exercise. I am a grateful and happy camper. You are invited to comment on this post and share your own story.

Am I wrong About The Avon Walk For Breast Cancer?

February 4th, 2008

As a cancer survivor, I am usually an enthusiastic supporter for most programs designed to raise money for cancer research, treatment, services, or just about anything related to cancer.

A friend of mine, a breast cancer survivor, sent me an email telling me she was thinking about walking in the “Avon Walk For Breast Cancer” event. I encouraged her to do so.

Several days later she sent me another email telling me she was not going to be able to walk in this event. She was extremely disappointed about not being able to walk in this event. The reason she will not be able to participate is the $65 registration fee. Personally I think a mandatory $65 registration fee is just plain WRONG!

If a person, especially a cancer survivor, is going to make the commitment to participate in this walk, and help raise money, why should they have to pay to do that? For many people, including my friend, the $65 registration fee is just not affordable. I could understand a $5 or $10 fee but $65 is excessive. Am I wrong about this?

In my opinion, it gets worse. I was going to help her with the registration fee until she told me the rest. The goal for each walker is to raise, $1,800. Guess what? If they can’t raise the $1,800 prior to the walk, they are expected to pay the difference with their own credit card or they can’t participate as a walker. I think that is outrageous! This organization should be grateful for any one willing to walk even if they can’t afford the $65 registration fee. They should also be grateful for every donation the walker raises even if it is less than $1,800.

I went to the official of the “Avon Walk For Breast Cancer” site and read the following paragraph in their Frequently Asked Questions section that I don’t agree with either.

If I can’t walk, can my donors get their money back?
All donations are non-refundable.

I am not saying that the “Avon Walk For Breast Cancer” is a scam. I’m just saying their policies give that impression. Am I wrong about this?

Lyrica, and the New York Times

February 2nd, 2008

As most of my readers know, I experienced horrible complications from my first two rounds of chemotherapy. My second round of chemotherapy resulted in a 32 day hospital stay.

I also had serious side effects from my radiation treatments. According to the doctors I had nerve damage. Whatever it was, it caused excruciating pain. I was given, what I consider to be massive amounts of oxycontin; 160mg per day.

I asked the doctors if there was a non narcotic way to control my pain. The doctor told me about a non-narcotic drug that was specifically designed for nerve pain. Lyrica.

Almost immediately after starting Lyrica, I experienced negative side effects. The two most profound were weight gain and dizziness. I gained 50 pounds in a very short time. I was petrified to take a shower because of the dizziness. I was told to stop taking the Lyrica.

Many people believe that the pharmaceutical companies, in their pursuit of profits, will tout their drugs to treat nonexistent diseases. The following New York Times seems to confirm that.

From The New York Times:

In the wake of the FDA approval of Lyrica, the first medicine approved to treat fibromyalgia, the New York Times has published a controversial article questioning whether the disease exists at all.

The Times claims that patient advocacy groups and doctors who specialize in fibromyalgia believe that the Lyrica approval is a milestone, and hope its approval will legitimize fibromyalgia in the same manner that Prozac legitimized depression. But, says the Times, other doctors believe that the disease does not exist, and that Lyrica will be taken by millions of people who do not need it.

Adding to the controversy is the fact that Lyrica itself is a drug originally designed for diabetic nerve pain that was rejected because of its unimpressive results and many side effects, including weight gain, edema, dizziness and sleepiness. This has left some wondering if the repositioning of Lyrica is little more than a cynical ploy to sell a failed medication. The potential for weight gain is a special concern, because many fibromyalgia patients are already overweight.

The Times article has already generated a good deal of online comment, and highlights the uneasy intersection where drug company greed and medicalization of nonexistent illnesses meets conventional medicine’s inability to diagnose and treat real problems.

Sources: New York Times January 14, 2008

Prior to reading the above article, I had already become keenly aware of the dark side of traditional treatments for cancer and many other diseases. I remember shortly after being diagnosed with cancer telling my doctors, and any one else who would listen, that I believed with all the advancements in the medical field, cancer treatment was still primitive and even barbaric.

Years ago cancer was treated by giving the patient poison, hoping it would kill the cancer cels. That is exactly what today’s chemotherapy is. Years ago, a primitive form of cancer treatment was to actually burn the tumor with fire. Radiation is nothing more than burning the tumor. I maintain that cancer treatment is still primitive and even barbaric.

I am now a firm believer in alternative treatment options. Of course, the best treatment for cancer, or any illness, is PREVENTION. That is why I insure that my body is sufficiently oxygenated by taking a supplemental oxygen nutrient.

My immune system has also become a priority for me. It should be a priority for you also. Because I am on a mission to promote prevention as the best treatment for any disease, I am striving for a super immune system.

Food of the Week: Broccoli - Protection against Cancer

January 30th, 2008

Broccoli is a member of the cabbage family, and is closely related to cauliflower. Its cultivation originated in Italy. Broccolo, its Italian name, means “cabbage sprout.” Because of its different components, broccoli provides a range of tastes and textures, from soft and flowery (the floret) to fibrous and crunchy (the stem and stalk). Do not let the smell of the sulfur compounds that are released while cooking keep you away from this highly nutritious vegetable.

Health Benefits

Protection against Cancer

Like other cruciferous vegetables, broccoli contains the phytonutrients sulforaphane and the indoles, which have significant anti-cancer effects. Research on indole-3-carbinol shows this compound helps deactivate a potent estrogen metabolite (4-hydroxyestrone) that promotes tumor growth, especially in estrogen-sensitive breast cells, while at the same time increasing the level of 2-hydroxyestrone, a form of estrogen that can be cancer-protective. Indole-3-carbinol has been shown to suppress not only breast tumor cell growth, but also cancer cell metastasis (the movement of cancerous cells to other parts of the body).

Scientists have found that sulforaphane boosts the body’s detoxification enzymes, potentially by altering gene expression, thus helping to clear potentially carcinogenic substances more quickly. When researchers at Johns Hopkins studied the effect of sulphoraphane on tumor formation in lab animals, those animals given sulforaphane had fewer tumors, and the tumors they did develop grew more slowly and weighed less, meaning they were smaller.

A study published in the cancer journal, Oncology Report demonstrated that sulforaphane, which is a potent inducer of Phase 2 liver detoxification enzymes, also has a dose-dependent ability to induce cell growth arrest and cell death via apoptosis (the self-destruct sequence the body uses to eliminate abnormal cells) in both leukemia and melanoma cells.

Sulforaphane may also offer special protection to those with colon cancer-susceptible genes, suggests a study conducted at Rutgers University and published online in the journal Carcinogenesis.

In this study, researchers sought to learn whether sulforaphane could inhibit cancers arising from one’s genetic makeup. Rutgers researchers Ernest Mario, Ah-Ng Tony Kong and colleagues used laboratory mice bred with a genetic mutation that switches off the tumor suppressor gene known as APC, the same gene that is inactivated in the majority of human colon cancers. Animals with this mutation spontaneously develop intestinal polyps, the precursors to colon cancer.

The study revealed that in animals fed sulforaphane, tumors were smaller, grew more slowly and had higher apoptotic (cell suicide) indices. Additionally, those fed a higher dose of sulforaphane had less risk of developing polyps than those fed a lower dose.

The researchers found that sulforaphane suppressed certain kinase enzymes. Kinases are cell signaling enzymes that are present not only in animals, but also in humans. The kinases suppressed by sulforaphane signal celluar activites that promote colon cancer. According to lead researcher, Dr. Kong, “Our study corroborates the notion that sulforaphane has chemopreventive activity…Our research has substantiated the connection between diet and cancer prevention, and it is now clear that the expression of cancer-related genes can be influenced by chemopreventive compounds in the things we eat.”

Another study, published in Cancer, the journal of the American Cancer Society, looked at indole-3-carbinol (I3C), a naturally occurring component of Brassica vegetables, such as broccoli, cabbage, and Brussels sprouts. I3C has been recognized as a promising anticancer agent against certain reproductive tumor cells. This laboratory study evaluated I3C’s effects on cell cycling progression and cancer cell proliferation in human prostate cancer cells. I3C was shown to suppress the growth of prostate cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner by blocking several important steps in cell cycling and also to inhibit the production of prostate specific antigen (PSA), a protein produced by the prostate whose rising levels may indicate prostate cancer. Researchers noted that the results of this study demonstrate that “I3C has a potent antiproliferative effect” in human prostate cancer cells, which qualifies it as “a potential chemotherapeutic agent” against human prostate cancer.

New research has greatly advanced scientists’ understanding of just how Brassica family vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale and Brussels sprouts help prevent cancer. When these vegetables are cut, chewed or digested, a sulfur-containing compound called sinigrin is brought into contact with the enzyme myrosinase, resulting in the release of glucose and breakdown products, including highly reactive compounds called isothiocyanates. Isothiocyanates are not only potent inducers of the liver’s Phase II enzymes, which detoxify carcinogens, but research recently conducted at the Institute for Food Research in the U.K. shows one of these compounds, allyl isothicyanate, also inhibits mitosis (cell division) and stimulates apoptosis (programmed cell death) in human tumor cells.

Laryngoscopy Shows I Am Still Cancer Free

January 26th, 2008

As a recent cancer survivor, I need several tests every six months for a five year period. One year down four to go. The oncologist schedules either a CAT Scan or a PET Scan. They are not too bad at all. However, the test that my Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist schedules for me, is not any fun at all.

It was the EN&T doctor that originally diagnosed my cancer. Every six months he schedules a laryngoscopy. This is done through a flexible viewing-tube passed through my nose to the back of the throat, allowing him to view the entire throat area . I believe the images are recorded on video.

The laryngoscopy is a horribly uncomfortable procedure. Before inserting the tube up my nose, he sprays a local anesthesia into my nose. Ten minutes later he started the procedure. It was so awful I almost wiggled out of the chair. He had to stop. I felt like a big baby but I just couldn’t help it. He then sprayed a tissue with the anesthesia and inserted that up my nose. It felt like it was being pushed all the way into my brain.

After the anesthesia took affect, he continued with the procedure. I was able to endure it this time. At any rate the exam itself was not pleasant but the results were great. So far the cancer has not come back and I am still cancer free.
